6.7x13 mm, EC. Gorgeous golden yellow color. The rough vendor was
unaware of any treatments, as much heliodor is treated, but not all. Brazil
has been one of the major producers over the years. Heliodor is related to
aquamarine (as is morganite, emerald, and so on) depending on what elements

Beryl, Light yellow hexagonal lozenge cut gem, 2.92 ct, VVS, 9x10.5 mm,
Madagascar. American cut by me. Would make a great ring stone, pendant, or ? Heliodor is
the yellow variety of beryl related closely to aquamarine and likewise found in
gem pegmatites. Good gem grade is actually more scarce than aquamarine. From the
Greek word 'helios', or sun. Rough purchased from Njema Gems in Kenya.

Heliodor Beryl, 2.28 ct kite shape, locality unknown, but probably Brazil. Really nice bright yellow. Has a small internal flaw, but still attractive. Would make a great pendant. Heliodor is first cousin to the gem aquamarine, but the color is different because the iron coloring agent is in a different valence state than the blue and often caused by natural ground radiation over eons of time.
